B. A. Shapiro

Barbara A. Shapiro, known in the writing world as B. A. Shapiro, is an American author of mainly murder mysteries, with some an intertwining mix of the past and the present. She was voracious reader from early and her defining moment when she knew that she wanted to be a writer came after she read Gone with the Wind as a mere child of between eight and nine years old.

Before beginning to write, B. A. Shapiro did a variety of jobs in the fields of technology, research, statistics and teaching. However, she only became a writer after her second child was born since, along with other things, it allowed her to spend more time with her children.

B A. Shapiro is a talented writer who to date have written seven novels, four screenplays and a non-fiction book about how to maintain a marriage in the challenging environment of a twenty-first century society. Her fiction books fall within the murder mystery category with some described as psychological thrillers with a touch of the supernatural and the occult. A few of them, like The Muralist and The Art Forger revolve around the world of art and are set in the past as well as the present.

She is an award-winning writer with several of her books having made the New York Times and the Boston Globe bestsellers list as well as winning a number of state and other literary awards. This includes the New England Book Award for Fiction in 2013.

B. A. Shapiro currently lives with her family in Boston and she also has a dog named Sagan.
